Plantar Warts

Warts occur when the virus that causes them enters the body through a laceration in the skin. Plantar warts are a specific kind of wart, found only on the soles of the feet. These usually occur underneath the surface of the skin, as the constant pressure of walking flattens them, pushing them into the skin. Plantar warts are similar to common warts in several aspects – they both feature black dots that appear within the wart, and can both cause pain. Plantar warts can be particularly painful when they’re experienced on the ball of the foot or the heel. Fortunately, there are several ways to combat the spread of plantar warts.
